Food and their flavors

The (I)nternational (F)lavors & (F)ragrances is the worlds largest flavor company and produces approximately two thirds of flavor additives that are sold  the U.S.  What is food without flavoring ? It would probably taste bad or like nothing, but then again all those different types of flavors have so many bad chemicals that can effect us health wise. We basically get manipulated into eating foods because of how they smell, taste or look. Every food has a certain flavor or flavors and its all added chemicals to that food. Just knowing about everything people can add to food that can improve the flavor of a certain food is disgusting because reality is we don’t really know what we are eating anymore. I knew fast food and junk food was always so bad for you but really didn’t know how bad. Chapter 5 talks about french fries and where they come from and reveals the secrets that were hidden behind fast food corprate walls. Mcdonalds french fries secret to the best tasting french fries was because 93 percent of the french frie had flavoring of beef tallow and the other 7 percent was the flavor of the oil they used called cottonseed oil. This percentage of oil and tallow in the fries is more beef fat then in a hamburger.  It makes me mad that corporates are so selfish and eager to make money and they don’t think about us as the people who consume their foods will get affected by these different chemicals and not knowing whats really in the food. We shouldn’t have to be scared to eat something because we don’t know what it contains, we should be able to know what exactly is in the food and what our food is being cooked in, but for that to happen that means most of all fast food restaurants would be out of buisness because part of their buisness is all there hidden secrets about the food.
